Did you know that our nation is obese? According to John M. Shalikashvili and Hugh Shelton in Wahington Post's The latest national security threat: obesity, "Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show obesity rates among young adults increasing dramatically nationwide. From 1998 to 2008, the number of states reporting that 40 percent or more of young adults are overweight or obese has risen from one to 39." (Shalikashvili, Shelton).

Your health and fitness should be on top of your priority list. Just look at what the experts say about Americans and their unhealthy habits. Do you want to be one of them? You should start at an early age, especially as a young adult, to not be another statistic and stay fit and healthy. Can't afford a personal trainer? That's okay. Sure, it would be nice to hire a personal trainer to motivate you, to customize a fitness routine for you and to monitor your progress, but not everyone has the resources, especially in our economy today, for that luxury. Don't lose hope. Yes, most people are also trapped in that mind-set that they need to join a gym to achieve the desired results in their overall fitness, but that's not the case either.
